GOOD LUCK TO OUR NEW PRESIDENT
Well, we have our first Black American President. I was totally glued to my TV on Jan 20, and really enjoyed watching the festivities. I watched the whole inauguration, the parade and the evening balls. I think this was the first time I have really actually enjoyed watching a President get inaugurated and all the hoopla surrounding it. I actually felt very proud for him and his family. I also felt that I was a part of everything. I did vote for him and am happy I did. I hope he can do some of the things that he says he will do, and I hope the changes will make our America stronger and be a better place to live. Granted, he is not a miracle worker but he strikes me as being very motivated and one who will work hard at being President. I wish him luck in the next 4 years and hope God keeps him safe from harm. You did a good job Bam!

ON THE OBAMA TRAIN.
WOW! I listened to Bam today give a good speech in Baltimore It was real cold there, but he did a good job. I dont know if any one else heard it or not, but after his speech he said, 'OK now lets get outta here.' Did anyone else hear him say that? I thought it was a little odd for him to say, unless he thought he was not heard saying it. Anyway, the train ride seemed to really remind of when I was young and I watched John Kennedy on the train. I loved JFK with all my soul. He had his flaws like all the other presidents but I truly loved him. My buddy Bam, now, will be alot like Kennedy in many ways. I am excited about his inauguration and cant wait to watch it. Some of my family are angry at me because I voted for him, but I did not like McCain and the looney from Alaska. I am happy to have voted for Barack and just hope he can really straighten this country out. I know he cant perform miracles but if he can at least do two things which he promised to do, that will be an accomplishment. I love his smile and just the way he is. He seems to be very down to earth and for the people, whether they are black, white or whatever. I just pray for him and his family and for our country, that he remains safe. Yes, history will be made this week, and I will witness it. God Bless the USA!
Defiance-Pretty good!
It indeed was a very cold day today. No snow, but very cold. Hubby and I went to see Defiance today. It was indeed a good movie if you like anything dealing with the Jews and Germans. The star, Daniel Craig seems to be better in a movie like this than playing 007. It was a true story and a couple of days ago there was some people who actually lived in the forest hiding from the Germans, being protected by the Partisans. My husband managed to keep his eyes open so I knew he was into the film too. I never knew that people lived in the forests and fought against the Germans, but I guess I don't know everything. Later on, when we came home, we ordered some Chinese food and sat down and watched the WRESTLER with Rourke. It was an ok movie, not too much action and had some tissue moments. He played a character whom I think alot of people can relate to, even if they arent a wrestler. The movie ends quickly and then Bruce sings the title song. Defiance I would rate at least and 8 and the Wrestler, I would give about a 6. Looking forward to Revolutionary Road and the Reader.

Plane in the Hudson River
Oh my gosh, I thought, not another disaster! Plane crashes in the Hudson River. My husband called me to put on the news. The story is incredible and all I say is thank God I wasnt on there, because my heart probably would have given out! I am so happy that there was no deaths or severe injuries. The pilot should be given an Oscar for doing what he did. He handled a bad situation very well and actually saved these passengers. I can't understand though, how the plane managed to stay afloat so long. Was it air pressure or were angels holding it up??? Something was keeping that plane from sinking. It indeed was no ones turn to die on that plane. God gave them all second chances. I believe in fate and this turned out to be quite a miracle in my book! The pilot was very experienced thank God and knew what to do without panicking the passengers. The crew were also great, and they did a good job helping the people out on the wings. The other boats came quickly and rescued the people. They also deserve thanks. A movie from way back when I was a kid was called, A Wing and a Prayer! My mom used to watch those air force movies . This really was a Wing and a Prayer believe me! God Bless Everyone tonight who was on that plane!

GIANTS! WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO YOU!
The Giants lost to the Eagles today! How sad is that? Eli and his men really played bad today. They all played like crap and are all responsible for the loss of the game. Hubby and I feel real bad about it, but what can you do? Not a darn thing, except root for a new team to win the Superbowl. The Giants will have to try much harder next year. My husband and I glowed last year when the Giants won. It was a heart thumping game to the end. This year, they just could not do it! Too bad.

Love and Tears for Patrick
The other night I had watched Barbara Walters. She had Patrick Swayze on, and I really give this guy so much credit for going on about his pancreatic cancer. I am an admirer of his and saw many of his movies, the best being DIRTY DANCING AND GHOST. He has had quite a life and loves his wife deeply. They have been married for 33 yrs and just renewed their vows again. They seem so in love with one another and the pain they both feel is unmeasureable. He is feeling the pain of the cancer and she is feeling that she will lose him in a matter of time. Cancer is a terrible thing to deal with and in some cases one dies very quickly from pancreatic cancer. Patrick had hope and faith from the very beginning of this dreaded disease and this hope and faith he has will carry him on. I hope he can get over his pneumonia and get strong again to deal with his next chemo session. Dear Patrick, many people and myself are rooting for you. We love you and we are with you all the way!

No Hope For Missing Baby
I am so so sad that the poor little baby has not been found. It pulls at my heart that something like this happened in a hospital. The person responsible should indeed step forward. Granted, it will not bring the little angel back, but the babys mom maybe can get some closure. I put myself in her place and God knows I would be devastated and want to die myself. I can only pray for the baby and the family. God Bless you all.
Eastwood Still Gowing Strong!
Since we will be hit with a big snowstorm this weekend and hubby is working Sunday, we deceided to see GranTorino this evening, with Clint Eastwood. Overall, I thought the movie was rather good. Clint grunts and groans alot, but still has something going. We oldies remember him in A Fistful of Dollars, and all the Dirty Harry films. He has aged, unfortunately as we all have, but he has done a good job with this film, He directed and produced the film and was the main star. The movie was more believable than Benjamin Buttons, and had a bit more action in it than Valkyrie. This year, the Oscars to me, are gonna be tuff! The independent film SlumDog Millionaire is up for I believe 5 awards. Everyone did well in the movies, it will be difficult to choose the winners I am sure of that!!

Missing baby-Not a person???
I have been out of work since June because of illness, I get around ok but could not function as a nurse any more. Worked for 36 yrs, and was good at what I did. Worked in psych, med surg, ICU< CCU, pediatrics, and Labor and Delivery. Recently, I read in the paper about a baby which the newspaper said was thrown out from the hospital. How could this be? What kind of person could have done this? This was a totally formed infant that weighed 5 lbs but had died. There are mixed details. Some say baby was stillborn, some say baby lived for 20 minutes. I was totally shocked because the paper made a statement that a stillborn is not a person. Well, in all my years of nursing I never heard this! This baby had a brain, cells, arms, legs, fingers, toes, everything. This indeed is a person to me! It is just very sad!
He had to have a death certificate and a name. Now the poor mom cant bury this little baby because no one knows where his lifeless little body is!
How could someone go into a morgue, remove something in the freezer and just discard it? Something is very very wrong here. Hospital people make alot of mistakes. It is unfortunate to say it, because I am a nurse, but in my 36 yrs I have never had a problem with anything big. When my husband had surgery, the nurse was running pain med without a pump. When I had my last surgery, the blood I was to get, was clotted up and discarded. One nurse in one hospital gave me a double dose of blood pressure pills. What the heck is going on these days?? Some things are quietly pushed under the rugs, but in this baby case, something has to be done. This is inexcuseable and devastating! What is this mother supposed to do now? Sure, she will sue the hospital and get lots of cash, and that will definately not bring the baby back. We need to find out who did this and why they would do it. You just dont go into a morgue and open a freezer and throw a little wrapped bundle in the garbage! A stillborn is a PERSON.!!!!

FAMILY VISIT AND OF COURSE MORE MOVIE REVIEWS
My son and his wife came this weekend for a visit. We had a fairly good weekend, thats all I will say about it. We went to see SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE on Saturday and on Sunday my hubby and I went to see Valkyrie with Tom Kat. We really enjoyed Slumdog. It was a very different kind of film, which held our attention till the end. It was an international film concerning 2 brothers who become orphans in India and how each brother ends up on a different road. One wins a gameshow with big money and the other leads a life of destruction. It is also a love story and the music, even though it was Indian was pretty good. I needed some tissues for this movie too! The director did a good job with it. Valkyrie was about German soldiers attempting to assassinate Hitler. I had no idea at all that his own people tried to kill him. The movie pointed out that 15 attempts were made on his life. Unreal, right? you would think there was one German who could have carried it out. Tom Kat did a good job in this movie. His other movies were bombs! I knew that many German soldiers did not like what Hitler was doing with the Jews and all, geez, Im sure someone could have nailed him good!
The weekend is over and we have next weekend to plan for. New weekend, and of course New Movies. Looking forward to seeing Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino , Daniel Craig in Defiance and Decaprio and Winslet in Revolutionary Road.
