BRUNO-------A SICK MOVIE!!!!!!

Went to see Bruno last week with my husband and I only went to see it because the critic on channel 7 said it was very funny. Since I never saw the first one, Borak, I figured we should see this one. Well, this movie was a disgusting, perverted, senseless piece of garbage. The actor should be ashamed of himself and so should the directors. It was very sexual and just plain nasty. If people in this country can actually say they liked it and thought it was so funny, then all I can say is God help this country.
What the heck happened to good decent enjoyable movies???? This movie should have been given an X rating too! When mens private parts and sexual gadgets and simulations of sex are shown on the screen, there should be some kind of X rating. This surely was just one big BOMB!!!!!

A BEAUTIFUL SEND OFF FOR MICHAEL

Today I watched the most moving, beautiful memorial service I have ever witnessed. It was for the King of Pop.Michael Jackson. The music, the words of his friends and family and the pictures were just heart wrenching and very emotional. I personally loved his music. I first saw him and his brothers on the Ed Sullivan show years ago and just followed his music. Every song and dance he performed was unique and very entertaining. When Usher sang his song and then walked down to the casket and put his hand on it, I lost it. I just felt so sad. When Brooke Shields spoke, the same thing, I cried. Al Sharpton, even though I really dont care for him, gave a wonderful eulogy and every word he said was true. Yes, Michael was different. He was not supposed to be like any one else. He had his differences and I dont believe one should ever be put down because of those differences. He was one of the worlds most talented individuals and no one will ever replace him. At the end, his daughter Paris told the world how much she loved her daddy and how she will miss him. That was a perfect ending for a perfect memorial to Michael.
God Bless you Michael and may you Rest in Peace. I will miss you.

DEPP SHINES AGAIN!!!

Went to see Public Enemy starring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. Wow, great movie. I personally think Johnny did a wonderful job portraying John Dillenger. Christian Bale was the agent Melvin Pervis who was trying to get him. Depp is an actor who can play any part of any kind of character. He can be very serious, funny, really sexy, anything!!!
He is just an A+++ all around! The movie of course had a lot of gun battles and stuff, all which was a big part of the 1930's. We still have the different mobs and their capos, but you cant compare it to those times of Dillenger, Pretty Boy Floyd and Baby Face Nelson. It was very good and held your interest. We all knows what happens at the end, but Paul and I liked it alot! Go see it and enjoy!

TRANSFORMERS!!!!! A REAL THRILL RIDE!

My son and family came to visit this past weekend, so needless to say, I had a wonderful time with them and my grandson! He is growing bigger and bigger. He now weighs 13lbs 2oz. After they left on Sunday, my hubby and I took in the new Transformer movie. It was kind of weird to start, but then got much better! It was non-stop action with these autobots and the special effects were just awesome!. My husband of course drooled over Megan Fox, who is a very beautiful young woman, and Shia was his typical self. It was a good movie if you like robots and things like that. Far fetched but worth it! It made out real good at the box office too!
Looking forward to seeing My Sisters Keeper and Johnny Depp in Public Enemies which is the story of John Dillinger.

A HAPPY DAY // A VERY SAD DAY

Today, June 25th is my sons birthday. He is 29 years old today and is the father of a 2 month old baby boy. It is a happy day for me and the family because I look back at the memories of his birth and remember how he grew up. I think of his first words, his first smile, first step and now think of what a fine young young man and dad he is. Yes, it is a happy day.

In another sense, it is a very sad day, not only for me for the world. The actress Farrah Fawcett, and the POP ICON, Michael Jackson both passed away today. Farrah was 62 and was battling rectal cancer sine 2006. She fought very hard to defeat this dreaded disease, but just couldnt go on any more. She was a beautiful woman and will me sadly missed. She played a great role in Charlies Angels on TV and played some really good parts in movies such as the Burning Bed and Extemities. She was also known for her long, flowing blond tresses which she lost because of the cancer. Farrah is a real Angel now with her wings up in a beautiful place called Heaven. Rest in peace now.

Michael Jackson was 50 yrs old and went into cardiac arrest in LA today. They tried to resusitate him heroicly but for what ever reason, he just couldnt make it. Michael was a POP ICON, one who will go down in history. His musical and dance talents were phenomenal. I remember the first time I saw him and followed him and his music for a very long time. Thriller, Billie Jean, Bad, and many more will go down in history as the best songs ever. He was strange in many ways and was accused of many things such as child molestation. God only knows whether he was guilty or not. He changed his body and his face numerous times and became something that he didnt even know. He became introverted and just very weird, but his music and his MOON WALK, will always be remembered. Rest in Peace Michael, and always know you and your music will always be remembered!

Yes, our lives are and will be always filled with happy days and sad days. We have no control over life and death. That is why it is so very important to cherish each and every day that you breathe. Live life to the fullest and learn to love everything and everyone!!

New Movies! Taking of Pelham 123, The Hangover and The Proposal

Have 3 movie reviews this time! Since Paul and I love the movies so much!! The Taking of Pelham 123, was a great action thriller starring John Travolta and Denzel Washington. It deals with a hijacked subway train with hostages and is a fast, relentless thriller. It is a remake of the 1974 movie with Walter Mathau. If you like action this is a great one not to miss.
Hangover - is a very very funny movie. My husband laughed so hard almost the entire movie. This comedy is about a bunch of friends who go to Vegas for their buddies bachelor party and somehow end up having no memory of the wild night they had. They lose the prospected groom, gain a baby along the way and have a disaster of a time. Acting was good and movie was a true comedy!
The Proposal- This movie stars Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. It is a cool, classy, romantic comedy and we loved it! Betty White also stars in this film and is her usual funny self even in her 80's.
It is the story of a chief executive who forces her assistant to marry her so she will not be deported to Canada. They travel to Alaska to meet his family and then all the fun starts. It is funny and quite entertaining.
Thats it for the movies for now! Until next time!

Movie of the Weekend! DRAG ME TO HELL

This weekend nothing too good came out, except for the kiddie movie Up. Paul and I went to see the horror movie Drag Me to Hell. If you are a horror film buff like myself, it was enjoyable but a little silly. Hubby did not like it at all. It dealt with a curse put on the main character by a gypsy woman and the object involved was a button. Lots of wacky stuff happen and it was just a silly thriller. The end was quite silly too and you knew the ending before it happened. Next weekend some better ones come out. I would like to see Hangover and Pelham 1-2-3, and my Life in Ruins. We shall see!!

Freedom Ride

Today, my husband and I deceided to go to Liberty Park and walk around since it was a nice day. When we got there we were shocked to find thousands of motorcycles parked at the Park. We walked around looking at all the fancy, detailed work on some of these bikes---totally unbelieveable! There were little bikes, big bikes, 3 wheeler bikes, lots of chrome and lots of nice lookin biker guys!!! Now these are not the big bad motorcycle guys from the bad clubs, these are fireman, cops and good guys that belong to nice bike clubs. We spent hours looking at biker jewelry, helmet stickers, listened to a band and watched sailboats on the Hudson. These bikers came from all over and met up in Hackensack. From there they went to NY to the Trade Center and then came back to Jersey and to Liberty Park. They were giving donations to the Veterans of the Wars who were amputees and those with other problems. This ride indeed was for a good cause. They do this every year to raise money and I really enjoyed the day! It was a sunny, warm day with plenty of good sightings!!! Keep RIDING guys!!!

ADAM and QUEEN!!!!!!!

Adam Lambert the runner up on American Idol has a big decision to make. He was asked to be the lead singer for QUEEN!!! Wow, what are you going to do Adam? You will never replace Freddie Mercury but if you say yes, your career will start off big! Some people feel he should just go on his own and make it big for himself, but personally, I feel if he starts off with Queen he has a good chance on becoming a sensation! He needs to get some guidance and instruction on writing songs and becoming a hit in a band and I feel the 2 members of Queen can help him. I realize that he is young and the others are close to my age, but hell, this is some opportunity for him and I do hope he considers it. We will have to wait and see for his reply. Way to go Adam!

Death of a Child

Today, the 4yr old daughter of Mike Tyson, the boxer, died. She was taken off life support because of a freak accident involving a rope or something from a treadmill. She was playing and somehow was strangled by this rope. How sad it is that a young child, whose life has not even evolved yet has to die like this. We always seem to ask God why!
Why did he take the life of this child? Why me? Why this, why that? Death they say is not to be questioned. Why not? There are many questions to be asked about death, but unfortunately there are no answers. When a child dies, is it fate? Is it the childs destiny? As Christians we are taught to accept death and consider it a reward to be with God. We will be in a better place they say. I personally would have a hard time dealing with the death of a child. If he/she were my own, I would be totally devastated. I can not imagine what people go through when their child dies. Acceptance of death is a hard thing to deal with. Yes, life goes on, but that pain of loss will always be there. It is not whether one is strong or not, the strongest of men have broken down in tears when they lose a son or daughter. Mike Tyson and Family and all other people who have suffered losses, my pain is with you and so are my prayers.

Angels and Demons

Went to see Angels and Demons. The movie was great with lots of action. I had read the book about 2 yrs ago and it was better than The Davinci Code. Tom Hanks did a superb job as Langdon. The plot was great,, some scenes were a little bloody, but good. Just hope nothing like that ever happens in real life!
Today, went to see The Museum Movie=Night at the Smithsonian. Paul and I like Ben Stiller so we went to relax and watch a comedy. It was a little lame but entertaining. Paul was falling asleep and I knew he was kind of bored with it. Robin Williams plays a good Teddy Roosevelt and the others were ok. I am looking forward to seeing Christian Bale as the Terminator.

Little Jay 4 weeks old

Little Jason is 4 weeks old already! Time flies. He weighs over 9 lbs now and is 22.5 inches long. Growing well! My daughter in law De and my son send us pics of him on our phone and I put them on the PC and print up pictures. I have been so busy making photo albums and scrapbooks of my grandbaby! We spent last weekend in Maryland and Paul and I were thrilled to be there with them and little Jay. He looks like her side of the family for now, but as we all know, babies faces change all the time. I cried when we had to leave, it just seems so far. It took us 4 hrs to get home that Sunday as traffic was horrible around the Delaware Bridge and then on the Turnpike at exit 7 and 8. The summer is coming and traffic will be awful! If we can see him at least once every couple of weeks I would not mind. I just want him to grow up knowing his Nana and Poppie in New Jersey!!

Dissapointed in AI voters! Adam should have won!!

I was watching AI faithfully since it started and loved Allison and my boy Adam. Last week, I was totally dumbfounded when Adam lost to Kris!! What was America thinking? Pick the goody twoshoe and the Christian, over the gothic and gay guy??? Was his eyeliner and black nail polish too much for America?? He has a phenomenal voice and he sings Mad World like no one ever did. Adam has way more talent than Kris and I think it was awful that he lost!!! His performance with Kiss was great and I thought for sure he was the winner. To me, Kris is BLAH. He has not done anything original. This last show was great with all the past and present singers. Queen, Keith Urban, Lionel Richie, Cyndi Lauper and Black Eyed Peas did a great job. It was one of the best idol show ever except the wrong guy won!!! No matter what, Adam will definately go far and he will do much better than Kris. Adam, good luck in all you do- I was one of your loyal fans!!!!

Baby Jay is one week and 4 days old!

Time is flying! My little grandson is almost 2 weeks old already. His features are changing and he looks like a little man! We will be visiting in 2 weeks and I wish it was sooner. He is eating good and sleeps a bit better at night. His mom and dad are adjusting well, and so is Tucker boy their lab. My son sends me a pic of him every day and I just love it! Since we cant see him often, at least with pics I can see him change! Sleep well my little prince!

X-Men- Wolverine

Today was a movie day, especially since it was damp, cloudy, and rainy! We went to see Hugh Jackman in Wolverine. I liked the action and the fighting, but the story line was a little boring. It sure cleaned up in the money, thats for sure. It made 35 million the Friday it opened. Hugh Jackson is a good actor, dont get me wrong, but there was just something missing! My hubby fell asleep at certain parts and said Wolverine could never compare to Batman, Superman and all the other heroes we had growing up. At one point, you believe his wife gets killed, then you find out she is alive, then she gets shot and dies again..... I was like, now wait a minute what is going on here? Then you find out all the other XMen are prisoners on an island and are released at the end. The story was a bit confusing, but like I said earlier, the fighting scenes were real good and looking at Hugh Jackman with his shirt off was kinda nice too. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate this movie around a 7.

We are GrandParents!!!!!

On April 27th, my grandson Jason M C Jr. was born. He weighed 9lbs 1oz and was 201/2 inches long. He is a handsome little boy and my hubby and I are tickled to death! He arrived 3 weeks early but all is well with him. He was brought home on the third day. Mom and daddy are adjusting to the new addition well! It will be a little hard for us to keep a watch over him as they live in Maryland which takes us 3-4 hours to get to. Thats ok though, he will be talking to us on the phone before we know it. The birth of our grandchild has been a great gift from God, and it has made us extremely estatic.

CRANK--------- THE WORST MOVIE EVER!!!!

Since I liked the Transporter movies with Jason Statham, I figured Crank would be worthwhile to see! Well, there were 6 of us in the entire theater and before the 86minute movie ended everyone had left except for my husband and I. I guess I was too shocked and dulled to get up and walk out. Something held me there. Maybe there was candy under my shoes that stuck me to the floor. Anyway, this movie and the acting was utter nonsense with the craziest plot ever! I am surprised that he starred in this garbage movie. Chinese guys, hearts, heads, hookers, racetrack sex, everything was in this crappy movie which was very bizarre and just plain stupid. Bai Ling was cast in it and she was just plain pathetic. It was a matinee so it only cost $10.00 . When are these people going to make some decent movies?? I dont ever want to see Jason in another movie for a long long time. This one really put a damper on him for me!

My Wedding Anniversary

On April 21st 1995, Paul and I were married! We had such a beautiful church ceremony and a total blast at the reception. Today is our 14 yr anniversary. We have been together however for 20 years! Wow, the time goes by so fast . We had our ups and downs and no matter how things went, we always pulled through and made things work out. My hubby had gotten my open heart earrings, a book, and a bunch of creams and lotions from Bath and Body. He always goes overboard!! (thats one reason I love him so much) I had gotten him some things from B&B too. His birthday was April 10, so he got alot of things from me for his birthday! We went out to dinner tonight and enjoyed a good IHOP meal. Came home, watched American Idol and Dancing with the Stars!
Paul was tired as he worked today and he nodded off after the 10pm news.
Hope things continue to go well, especually with my health. I need my catarracts done soon. No matter what happened to me in the past, my Paul was always by my side. He is a good, kind wonderful man and I will always love him. I had an 8yr old son from my previous marriage and he really did well with him, acting like a good father figure. He taught him how to ride a bike and how to drive a car! My son loves him very much too. Yes, we love each other very much and will continue to love each other till death do us part!

Cherry Blossom Time

Hubby and I went to Branch Brook Park today to see the white and pink cherry blossom trees. It was packed there. People all over the place. The trees looked very nice but alot of them were not bloomed. We walked around for about and hour or so and took some photos. Tomorrow is festival day but the weather is not suppossed to be too good. Today was the ideal day to go. It seemed like it was in the high 70's and the sun was shining brightly. It indeed was a great day for the park.
On another note, we also took in a movie. The movie was with Ben Affleck and Russell Crowe. It is STATE OF PLAY. It was ok, Russell played a reporter and Ben was a political figure and there is murder and what not involved. It held my interest and my hubby didnt fall asleep, so I guess he kind of enjoyed it. The theater was packed with many many little old ladies! They really must enjoy these young hotty actors!!! I will be looking forward to seeing the Soloist with Jamie Foxx.

Post Office Delivery----- Dead and Gone?????

Has anyone ever ordered something and never got it via mail???? Well, I had ordered something from EBay and it was sent to my home on April 6. No one was home and supposedly the carrier put a notice on the door that it was delivered but I could get it at the PO. Well, I have been trying for 9 days now to get my package and no luck. The PO clerk said it is not in the post office and they have no idea where it is. So much for the great service. The seller from Ebay has been trying to find the package too. I payed for the item and now wonder what is going to be the outcome of this situation. Did someone take my package, did someone take the notice, did it blow away???? Where the heck is my package??? The carrier was supposed to redeliver it in 3 days but did not. In this day and age, how can a package be lost like this? I definately want credit from the seller on Ebay. I have no idea what happens, but I definatley want to find out who delivered the package in the first place, where is the copy of the slip he left supposedly on my door, and where is the package now????
Does any one have any suggestions on what I can do??? The Postal Service apparently screwed up somewhere and I want to know where!!!!

Captain held Hostage

This is really a sad situation. A bunch of Somali Pirates take over an American ship, and the captain, who is very brave, becomes their hostage! Where is our President at this time and how come he does not make any comments. This is a big VIOLATION and we just cant sit back and let these pirates do what they want to do! I understand that they do not want the captain to be harmed but something has to be done. What the US should definately do now is not to send any more food and supplies to these countries. Cut them off!! President Obama has to make a decision sometime on what he plans to do about this. If we dont stop this nonsense now, these pirates will keep on doing this!

The Death of Dr. Kutner

I am an avid watcher of HOUSE, and I was totally knocked off my feet by the episode on Tuesday nite. Dr. Kutner who is played by the actor Kal Penn is dead from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound to the head. There was no clue anywhere and I was in total shock. Why would he leave the show? Why such a grusome demise??? Well, I find out that he left the show because he got another job. He is going to Washington DC and will be some kind of public relation person to Mr. Obama. WOW, how come I cant get a job like that??? I liked his role in House, and I sure he will miss working with his buddies, but now is the chance he has been waiting for. It is told he will be making less money of course, but he will be doing something he really wants to do. Well, good luck Kal, I will miss you on the show..

Fast and Furious Review

Today was movie day. Went to see Vin Diesel and Paul Walker and of course Michelle Rodriquez in the Fast and the Furious. I love all the actors so I liked the movie very much. Lots of action as usual, but something happens in this one and if I tell u, it will spoil it. There definately will be another one thats for sure! My man Vin is cool and serene, it seems like nothing bothers this guy at all, but when he gets mad watch out! The papers put the movie down, but if you like these actors and action, this is a good one to see! Long live the Fast and the Furious!

Your Majesty!!!!

Well, the President and his wife have tallied off to Merry Old England now and had a visit with the Queen Mum. The Pres and his wife gave her an IPod which was a very nice gift, but do you think she will use it? Will she be able to even hear the thing?? The papers went on to criticize the Pres and First Lady for everything. Michelle's panty line was showing and she put her arm around the Queen which was a NO NO . When will all this crap stop?? If I was Michelle, I would tell them to stop looking at my butt and thighs and then you would not see my pantyline. I could never ever be a first Lady because I would give the press a really hard time. They criticized Obama for bobbing his head when first meeting the Queen and made it sound like Michelle saved his face! Utter garbage, thats for sure. Do people really think it is easy for the Pres. and his wife?
If this is the news that people want to hear, then God Bless America!!! The press should write better stories. I am really not interested in Michelle's pantylines, facial lines, or her biceps!!

Movie Review------12 Rounds

Hubby was off today so of course we went to our favorite theater for a matinee. Today we saw 12 Rounds with John Cena. Now, I never heard of this movie or this actor so I went on line to fine out a little bit about it. Never saw John Cena in my life and I find out he's a wrestler.. The movie was not too bad. It was filled with action and kept you on the edge of your seat. I even finished my bag of popcorn and didnt know it. The actor was not too bad and was really kind of nice looking. The story was a little unrealistic but that was ok, what story in the movies today isn't? So, if you like explosions, car chases, crazy FBI officers, runaway firetrucks, then this movie is for you. Looking forward to Fast and Furious again with Vin Diesel.

SIGHT- a very precious GIFT

I have always loved looking at the stars, the moon, the ocean water, and those big white puffy things in the sky-the clouds. I can sit for hours upon hours gazing at these things. I often wondered what life would be without sight! I hate to think of it, but with the condition I have, I dont really know how much time I have before I lose my sight. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis which has affected my eyes since I was a child. The doctors at that time did not know what I had, and declared my condition an allergy. I lived with red eyes all my life. When I entered my 20's, I lost my vision numerous times in my right eye. The doctors gave me prednisone drops and the vision returned, but each time left my cornea damaged. In my 40's the vision was worse but my glasses helped me to continue to see all the great things on the earth I loved to see. One, out of about 7 eye doctors that I had seen sent me to NY where the doc told me I had RA. From there I went to Rheumatologists and Corneal Specialists.
To make things short, my corneas are in bad shape, and I was told that eventually they can rupture. For the past 2 weeks I have had blurred vision and really fear that a rupture is going to happen. I see my specialist frequently and have received my second dose of Rituxin IV. I pray hard every nite that I dont wake up and be unable to see. I guess this is my biggest fear right now. My husband Paul is my rock. Without him I would be lost.
Everyone in the world has their own problems to deal with, but I do know that everyone takes things for granted. I have changed in many ways because I know that at any time I can be blind or something else could happen. I ask myself how will I deal with it??? God only knows. It will not be easy thats for sure. It is very vital to me that I live one day at a time and enjoy that day as much as I can and to see all I can see in that day. Life is very precious, and the older one seems to get, the more one realizes how precious it is. My first grandbaby will be here in May sometime and I just hope my vision and life hold out so I can hold that baby in my arms and watch Him or Her grow up!

Increase in ITunes among other things!

Today I found out on radio and TV that Itunes will be raising the prices of the downloads to $1.29 and old songs from 69-99cents. We owe this to the darn governor of NY, Patterson. He said he wanted to charge a higher tax, so I guess Itunes got a little annoyed and deceided to raise up themselves. I quess I will be limiting my downloads. It is totally ridiculous what is going on. First the gas, milk, soda, meats and etc and now this. I feel really sorry for the next generation! Can you imagine what the world will be like in the future. How much will eggs cost??? I went to get drops for my dry eyes and even they were over 10 dollars. The prices of everything have gone up to the point of NO RETURN!!! Since i am aging I need alot of wacky things now, like Bengay, wee pads, aspirin for my heart, dye for my hair and the list goes on and on. The prices of these things have risen terribly. How can people afford it? All my dear Obama is doing is showing off his face on TV. He has dissapointed me greatly , but that will be another blog!

Melis movie reviews

Watchman was great! the actors were great and the storyline was great. I never read a DC comic but I realy loved this movie.even the music was good. Duplicity with julia roberts and clive owen was a slow bore and you reallydid not know what was going on till the middle of the story' They sure had a love scened going and many kissykissy ' I would hve done the story much differently and included a differt ent spy drama . At the end they both end up with NOTHING!!!!! Wednesday we went to see KNOWING and my husband and I totally loved it. Cage is a good actor but the pappers put him down and gave him 1 star while duplicity go 4 stars, It was a supernational story with lots of disasters in it. the ending is the best . The writer did a great job. I loved it.

Very Busy in Maryland

Hi. I have returned. My hubby and I have been toMaryland for the weekend and spent time with my son and my daughter in law who will be delivering sometime in May. I attended her shower and had a very enjoyable time. It was held in a Tea Room and we had teas and finger sandwiches and soup and salad and it was just very nice. She got some many nice things for the baby. I am so excited as this is our first grandchild. The other great part of the weekend was that we visited Deena's dad in the rehab place where he lives for now. Mr Ed is a wonderful man and I really love him. He unfortunately had brain cancer 16 yrs ago and now it has recurred. He has lost some movements on his whole left side, but his outlook is wonderful. He goes to therapy and works his butt off and just has so much in him to go on! The weekend was just awesome and my husband and I had a great time.

Monkey Cartoon_---------Poor Taste!

On Feb.18, a cartoon printed in the NY Post shows a monkey getting shot by 2 cops with a terrible caption. I am a white woman and find this totally racist and just plain tasteless! What the heck are people trying to do??/ This country is in such turmoil now, and yet we have people making cartoons like that. The writer has denied any offense to this, but I do, and so do many others. How could he do this? Does he want to start a darn civil war??? Sure, we have freedom of speech and freedom of the press and etc., but this was just awful. I wish they would hire me for the newspaper==== I would really get the country going---but not in a negative way!

CHIMP GOES BANANAS

A horrible incident occurred the other day and it really upset me. I feel very sorry for the monkey, but I feel worse about the poor woman who the monkey tore apart! I love animals and have numerous pets myself, but I would never take in an animal of the wild. Animals like people, have their own quirky behaviors, and especially those who are not really considered domesticated. I love monkeys, tigers, gorillas, you name it, but have one as a pet??? NO WAY! Even my little beagle Bandit gets out of whack some days. True, the lady owned the chimp for 10 yrs or so, but there is always that wild-like behavior, which sometimes comes out in the open. Look at Seigfried and Roys tiger. This tiger was like their baby. Something triggered the tiger to act aggressively and it did, to his trainer and owner. The monkey, too, acted very aggressively and almost killed the visitor. The way this lady was mauled, having her face, eyes, nose and jaw bitten off, she probably would have been better off not to have made it. I feel very bad about all involved in this but people should know better than to keep wild animals as pets. The owner said she gave the monkey Zanax earlier that day, so we know that the monkey was either agitated or not himself. The news also said he could have had Lyme disease. That could also be a cause of his erratic behavior. Who knows??? Anyway, it is a tragedy and people should learn from this.

Joaquin----- Were you acting or were you stoned????

I happen to like Joaquin Phoenix but I was very shocked when I watched the video of him on the Letterman show. He was like someone from outer space. He couldnt answer the questions properly and was very inappropriate. How can an actor go on TV and act like a complete idiot??? Some people think it was a publicity stunt. I personally thought he was acting, but who knows, he could have shot up or smoked something wacky. I remember when Farrah Fawcett was on the show years ago. She acted totally wacky too but I think she was bombed from the booze! Letterman, I must say really made me laugh talking to Joaquin. I really hope it was all an act- I would hate to see Joaquin wind up like his brother River.

A Visit to the Vet

Today, our youngest little male kitty was taken to the vet to be neutered. I firmly believe all cats, male and female should be spayed and neutered because there are just too too many cats around. My husband packed him up early and off he went at 9am. When my husband returned home, he said that I should be real proud of him for saving us a lot of money. The estimate bill came to $239.00, he knocked off alot and got it down to $89. Oh my God, can you imagine???? These vets and animal clinics are really getting out of hand. I even had a certificate from the friends of animals for neutering for $51. I dont even pay that when I go to the doctor. They charge for every single little thing. $2 for waste disposal, $1 to receptionist-----(is this her base pay rate or what?) the Elizabethian collar which is like a small lampshade the goes around his neck so he cant scratch the operative area was $13. That thing didnt even last the night. Toni was almost a goner when the string on the contraption was too snug around his neck, and he split the thing in the middle. Anything to make money! He dosent even have sutures to bite and lick, so whats the purpose? $13 added to the bill, thats the purpose.
Antibiotics and pain pills were also there. Pain Pill?? I gave him one tonight and he is still up running all around. I have a dog and 2 cats. I try to give them the basic things they need, and thats it. Times are too hard to be spending outrageous amounts on silly things. Everything costs money today, and I dont expect a free ride, but damn, get real. Lower these vet bills, they are getting out of hand!

A Rod, The A-Hole

Oh boy, poor ARod. What the heck is wrong with these guys? Well, at least he fessed up to his roid use. He confessed to using steroids but then said he did not know what the name of it was. You tell me you inject something into your body and you dont know what it is??? Now that sounds really dumb. Granted, he used the steroids years ago and now all this dirt is popping up. People are definately jealous, and love to start nonsense. I do not condone what he did, but hell, even the President of the US said he smoked pot when he was younger. Personally, I think we all smoked the weed at one point in our lives. I feel sorry for him to a point but then I dont. He has had a bad time lately, thats for sure, but I still think he is standing in the background laughing at all of this. With his divorce and Madonna and now the steroids----what else can happen to him? Maybe people will forgive him and again, maybe they won't. i wonder what the Yankees will do with him. He is a good ball player and unfortunately did break the rules. They should test them all and frequently. Maybe then they would smarten up.

DWI COP Kills Woman

How sad is this story! A couple in NY, both of whom are 26Yrs old are run down by a drunk driver. The man survives, but the love of his life dies at the scene. They just finished their tango lesson and were holding hands, walking, and just enjoying life. The story gets worse. The drunken driver who hit them was a Jersey City police officer. I can not imagine how this guy feels today. Here is a man who takes an oath to uphold the law and he drinks and gets into his car and unfortunately kills someone. I feel sorry for all parties involved but he did a really bad thing by getting loaded and driving. He really should have known better. I know many police officers from Bayonne, Jersey City, and Hoboken. One of my husbands good friends was an undercover PO who after many years took a bad turn. He is no longer a cop and had to move away. What is it with cops and firemen with the drinking and drugging??? If there is so much stress in being a PO why dont they just do something else? Dont get me wrong, alot of cops and firemen are really great. Not all of them drink and carry on. Many are very cocky and think just because they carry a gun they are God. Well, I feel real sorry for Officer Abreu, this is something he has to live with now for the rest of his life. I am sure he wishes this whole incident was a bad dream.

Movie Review Time!

Havent been on a rant lately about the movies I have seen, so get ready!! Since I like vampires, werewolves and the such, Underworld, Rise of the Lycans was pretty good. It had some good effects but it was rather dark. The man guy, I mean Lycan was really a hot number. I would not mind him clawing me. New In Town, with Renee Zellweiger was enjoyable. She moves from Miami to Minnasota and of course falls in love. It is a good comedy and she played a good role with Harry Connick JR. Paul Blart, Mall Cop, was so so. Very silly, but enjoyable. It even had a fairly good soundtrack. He also is in dire need of a woman and finds one in the mall where he works. Alot of nonsense occurs at this mall and he becomes the hero. Today, went to see Push with Dakota Fanning and the guy who played in the Fantastic Four. It was quite bizarre and weird. Little Dakota portrayed herself as a little hoochie mama. There was alot of action, but the story line was wacky. Last week we had two DVD's that we watched at home. One was the Wrestler and the other was Taken. Taken was very good and kept me on the edge of my couch. Lots of action too. Its about a girl who gets kidnapped and her dad goes to find her. Oh well, Miss Movie here is kinda tired now, so I will log off for now.

Verizon Wireless, Stop being a P.I.A

Last week I got a new phone, a Samsung Swag. I didnt want anything fancy. With the rebate and all the phone was $40. I dont want email on my phone or anything that will accrue a larger bill. However, I did download 7 ringtones. I like the phone very much so far and even went to Accessorygeeks.com and purchased a black and white polka dot plastic case and some plastic covering for it. It is a nice phone and serves its purpose for me. However........since I got my phone ,Verizon wireless has been calling my home nonstop and sending me text messages to increase my plan because I am using more minutes and texting! Number one, my husband always checks our minutes so we dont go over and number two, we dont text. VW was driving me totally crazy and I had to really let them have it. I told the women to stop calling all hours of the day or I will take some kind of action. Enough is enough. If I wanted to change my plan I would change it. She told me she would put me on a DO NOT CALL list and I totally agreed with that, but it would not really happen or take effect for 30 days. Oh no, a month more of these calls?? I told her ok and that was that. This morning I got a call around 9am and just heard Verizon and hung up. Boy, the abuse we have to take from these companies!

Oh where of where have all the Mailboxes Gone??

Would you believe that there use to be 4 mailboxes around my development where I live, and now we are down to 1 box which is not a hop and skip away. What is going on? Granted, they are trying to decrease staff and limit pickups, but one box???? What happens if one of the smart assed juveniles fire the box up? Yes, this happens . Boys put matches in the mailboxes and burn the mail, or they throw liquids down . Gee, when I was young, we never did crap like that! Mailing a letter now will give me a nice walk, one that takes about 15 minutes, I guess it has its good points. I do miss all my other mail boxes.

The Twilight Saga

Had to catch up on my blogging tonight, because I have been reading my books from the Twilight Saga. I finished the first one after seeing the movie and am 1/4 finished with the second one which is NEW MOON. These books were written supposedly for teenage girls, but when it comes to vampires, love, blood, and werewolves, I'm in. I use to watch a show as a teen called Dark Shadows, and I loved it. Theres just something special about vampires, getting bitten and living forever. It sounds silly but I really enjoy reading these books. Just because some people may think 50 is old, I read and sort of put myself in the book. I am looking forward to the next movie too!

GOOD LUCK TO OUR NEW PRESIDENT

Well, we have our first Black American President. I was totally glued to my TV on Jan 20, and really enjoyed watching the festivities. I watched the whole inauguration, the parade and the evening balls. I think this was the first time I have really actually enjoyed watching a President get inaugurated and all the hoopla surrounding it. I actually felt very proud for him and his family. I also felt that I was a part of everything. I did vote for him and am happy I did. I hope he can do some of the things that he says he will do, and I hope the changes will make our America stronger and be a better place to live. Granted, he is not a miracle worker but he strikes me as being very motivated and one who will work hard at being President. I wish him luck in the next 4 years and hope God keeps him safe from harm. You did a good job Bam!

ON THE OBAMA TRAIN.

WOW! I listened to Bam today give a good speech in Baltimore It was real cold there, but he did a good job. I dont know if any one else heard it or not, but after his speech he said, 'OK now lets get outta here.' Did anyone else hear him say that? I thought it was a little odd for him to say, unless he thought he was not heard saying it. Anyway, the train ride seemed to really remind of when I was young and I watched John Kennedy on the train. I loved JFK with all my soul. He had his flaws like all the other presidents but I truly loved him. My buddy Bam, now, will be alot like Kennedy in many ways. I am excited about his inauguration and cant wait to watch it. Some of my family are angry at me because I voted for him, but I did not like McCain and the looney from Alaska. I am happy to have voted for Barack and just hope he can really straighten this country out. I know he cant perform miracles but if he can at least do two things which he promised to do, that will be an accomplishment. I love his smile and just the way he is. He seems to be very down to earth and for the people, whether they are black, white or whatever. I just pray for him and his family and for our country, that he remains safe. Yes, history will be made this week, and I will witness it. God Bless the USA!

Defiance-Pretty good!

It indeed was a very cold day today. No snow, but very cold. Hubby and I went to see Defiance today. It was indeed a good movie if you like anything dealing with the Jews and Germans. The star, Daniel Craig seems to be better in a movie like this than playing 007. It was a true story and a couple of days ago there was some people who actually lived in the forest hiding from the Germans, being protected by the Partisans. My husband managed to keep his eyes open so I knew he was into the film too. I never knew that people lived in the forests and fought against the Germans, but I guess I don't know everything. Later on, when we came home, we ordered some Chinese food and sat down and watched the WRESTLER with Rourke. It was an ok movie, not too much action and had some tissue moments. He played a character whom I think alot of people can relate to, even if they arent a wrestler. The movie ends quickly and then Bruce sings the title song. Defiance I would rate at least and 8 and the Wrestler, I would give about a 6. Looking forward to Revolutionary Road and the Reader.

Plane in the Hudson River

Oh my gosh, I thought, not another disaster! Plane crashes in the Hudson River. My husband called me to put on the news. The story is incredible and all I say is thank God I wasnt on there, because my heart probably would have given out! I am so happy that there was no deaths or severe injuries. The pilot should be given an Oscar for doing what he did. He handled a bad situation very well and actually saved these passengers. I can't understand though, how the plane managed to stay afloat so long. Was it air pressure or were angels holding it up??? Something was keeping that plane from sinking. It indeed was no ones turn to die on that plane. God gave them all second chances. I believe in fate and this turned out to be quite a miracle in my book! The pilot was very experienced thank God and knew what to do without panicking the passengers. The crew were also great, and they did a good job helping the people out on the wings. The other boats came quickly and rescued the people. They also deserve thanks. A movie from way back when I was a kid was called, A Wing and a Prayer! My mom used to watch those air force movies . This really was a Wing and a Prayer believe me! God Bless Everyone tonight who was on that plane!

GIANTS! WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO YOU!

The Giants lost to the Eagles today! How sad is that? Eli and his men really played bad today. They all played like crap and are all responsible for the loss of the game. Hubby and I feel real bad about it, but what can you do? Not a darn thing, except root for a new team to win the Superbowl. The Giants will have to try much harder next year. My husband and I glowed last year when the Giants won. It was a heart thumping game to the end. This year, they just could not do it! Too bad.

Love and Tears for Patrick

The other night I had watched Barbara Walters. She had Patrick Swayze on, and I really give this guy so much credit for going on about his pancreatic cancer. I am an admirer of his and saw many of his movies, the best being DIRTY DANCING AND GHOST. He has had quite a life and loves his wife deeply. They have been married for 33 yrs and just renewed their vows again. They seem so in love with one another and the pain they both feel is unmeasureable. He is feeling the pain of the cancer and she is feeling that she will lose him in a matter of time. Cancer is a terrible thing to deal with and in some cases one dies very quickly from pancreatic cancer. Patrick had hope and faith from the very beginning of this dreaded disease and this hope and faith he has will carry him on. I hope he can get over his pneumonia and get strong again to deal with his next chemo session. Dear Patrick, many people and myself are rooting for you. We love you and we are with you all the way!

No Hope For Missing Baby

I am so so sad that the poor little baby has not been found. It pulls at my heart that something like this happened in a hospital. The person responsible should indeed step forward. Granted, it will not bring the little angel back, but the babys mom maybe can get some closure. I put myself in her place and God knows I would be devastated and want to die myself. I can only pray for the baby and the family. God Bless you all.

Eastwood Still Gowing Strong!

Since we will be hit with a big snowstorm this weekend and hubby is working Sunday, we deceided to see GranTorino this evening, with Clint Eastwood. Overall, I thought the movie was rather good. Clint grunts and groans alot, but still has something going. We oldies remember him in A Fistful of Dollars, and all the Dirty Harry films. He has aged, unfortunately as we all have, but he has done a good job with this film, He directed and produced the film and was the main star. The movie was more believable than Benjamin Buttons, and had a bit more action in it than Valkyrie. This year, the Oscars to me, are gonna be tuff! The independent film SlumDog Millionaire is up for I believe 5 awards. Everyone did well in the movies, it will be difficult to choose the winners I am sure of that!!

Missing baby-Not a person???

I have been out of work since June because of illness, I get around ok but could not function as a nurse any more. Worked for 36 yrs, and was good at what I did. Worked in psych, med surg, ICU< CCU, pediatrics, and Labor and Delivery. Recently, I read in the paper about a baby which the newspaper said was thrown out from the hospital. How could this be? What kind of person could have done this? This was a totally formed infant that weighed 5 lbs but had died. There are mixed details. Some say baby was stillborn, some say baby lived for 20 minutes. I was totally shocked because the paper made a statement that a stillborn is not a person. Well, in all my years of nursing I never heard this! This baby had a brain, cells, arms, legs, fingers, toes, everything. This indeed is a person to me! It is just very sad!
He had to have a death certificate and a name. Now the poor mom cant bury this little baby because no one knows where his lifeless little body is!
How could someone go into a morgue, remove something in the freezer and just discard it? Something is very very wrong here. Hospital people make alot of mistakes. It is unfortunate to say it, because I am a nurse, but in my 36 yrs I have never had a problem with anything big. When my husband had surgery, the nurse was running pain med without a pump. When I had my last surgery, the blood I was to get, was clotted up and discarded. One nurse in one hospital gave me a double dose of blood pressure pills. What the heck is going on these days?? Some things are quietly pushed under the rugs, but in this baby case, something has to be done. This is inexcuseable and devastating! What is this mother supposed to do now? Sure, she will sue the hospital and get lots of cash, and that will definately not bring the baby back. We need to find out who did this and why they would do it. You just dont go into a morgue and open a freezer and throw a little wrapped bundle in the garbage! A stillborn is a PERSON.!!!!

FAMILY VISIT AND OF COURSE MORE MOVIE REVIEWS

My son and his wife came this weekend for a visit. We had a fairly good weekend, thats all I will say about it. We went to see SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE on Saturday and on Sunday my hubby and I went to see Valkyrie with Tom Kat. We really enjoyed Slumdog. It was a very different kind of film, which held our attention till the end. It was an international film concerning 2 brothers who become orphans in India and how each brother ends up on a different road. One wins a gameshow with big money and the other leads a life of destruction. It is also a love story and the music, even though it was Indian was pretty good. I needed some tissues for this movie too! The director did a good job with it. Valkyrie was about German soldiers attempting to assassinate Hitler. I had no idea at all that his own people tried to kill him. The movie pointed out that 15 attempts were made on his life. Unreal, right? you would think there was one German who could have carried it out. Tom Kat did a good job in this movie. His other movies were bombs! I knew that many German soldiers did not like what Hitler was doing with the Jews and all, geez, Im sure someone could have nailed him good!
The weekend is over and we have next weekend to plan for. New weekend, and of course New Movies. Looking forward to seeing Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino , Daniel Craig in Defiance and Decaprio and Winslet in Revolutionary Road.
